Evelyn P. McCarthy 90, of Brielle, NJ died and was reunited with her husband Edward on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Bayonne, Evelyn moved to Brielle in 1967. Evelyn was a devout catholic who was a parishioner of St. Denis Church, Manasquan, NJ. She liked to cook and read, as well as spend time at the beach. In her later years she loved going to Allaire Senior Center. Evelyn was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be deeply missed. Beginning in 1955, Evelyn and her husband Edward built McCarthy Marine Sales, which is still family owned and operated.
Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years Edward McCarthy in 1998 and her siblings.
Surviving are her children; Karen Fennessy and her husband Richard of Pt. Pleasant, Edward McCarthy Jr and his wife Phyllis of Brick, Lisa Carter and her husband William of Pt. Pleasant, Jayne Ciasto of Chicago, IL, 11 grandchildren; Michael, Brian, Kevin, Colleen, Kathleen, Mallory, Annie, Edward III, Hannah, Matthew, Emily and 7 great grandchildren.
Visiting will be Wednesday, from 3-7 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., at Rt. 70 Brick, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, 9:30 AM at St. Denis Church, Manasquan. Burial will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
