Carolyn Dorothy Brautigan – who would have been 102 on August 11th passed away at her home in Avon surrounded by family on July 22, 2014.
Our family and friends simply knew her as “Mom”. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Caroline Ziegler, and her husband, Clifford, of 73 years in 2006. Mom & Pop lived in Belmar for many years. Mom was a Charter Member of the Belmar Prime Timers and the Belmar Fishing Club. She was the oldest living communicant of St. Rose Church, Belmar. Mom always enjoyed having family and friends around – many of whom would visit often and take her out to her favorite places to eat, especially the Acropolis in Belmar.
Mom will be missed by many. She was predeceased by her siblings Henry Ziegler and Christine Boland, and a grandson-in-law Raymond McCartney. She was a loving mother to Clifford Jr. and Nancy Brautigan, grandmother to Patti McCartney and Jeff Axelrod, Clifford III and Cheryl Brautigan, Michael and Marie Brautigan, Suzy and Christopher Pickens, Lynn Brautigan and Michael Bandarra, and Karen and Michael Long. Mom had wonderful and loving memories of spending time with her 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and her special friend Lia.
