Obituary for William Edwin Eckler

William Edwin  Eckler
William Edwin Eckler, 65, of Neptune City, NJ, was welcomed across heaven’s great shore on July 23, 2014 after a short and courageous battle with liver cancer. He fought the good fight, finished the battle and kept the faith. Bill was born in Jersey City, grew up in Avon and was a resident of Neptune City for the past 44 years. He was a graduate of Neptune High School, Class of 66. He then continued on to graduate from William Paterson University in 1970.
Bill was a self-employed accountant with an office in Neptune City. He had a deep love for the ocean, fishing and golf. He was a member of Dawn Patrol Golf Club for over 30 years. During the winter months Bill vacationed at his home in St Augustine, Florida where he enjoyed playing golf and being with his family and friends.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Claire Eckler Livingston and Edwin Eckler. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Kathleen Ennis Eckler; his daughter and son in-law Kathel and Douglas Willms of Barnegat, brother Robert and wife Nancy of Mechanicsville, Va, sister Robin and husband James Iatesta of Avon. He is also survived by his brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Colleen Cross of Neptune City, John and Diane Ennis of Ocean Township, mother-in-law Rita Moore of Neptune, and aunt, Elizabeth Foth of Manchester. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill was loved by his entire family, his beloved “Summer Office” crew Chad, David and Billy as well as by his numerous close friends Vern Henderson, Steve Dean, Gene Sullivan, and his long time secretary and good friend, Karen Bordfeld.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 3 – 7 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 11 AM at St. James Episcopal Church in Bradley Beach. In respect of Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated, and his cremains will be scattered at sea at a private memorial service.
