Obituary for Geraldine Harris (Pauling)

Geraldine  Harris (Pauling)
Geraldine “Gerry” Harris, age 87, of Spring Lake, died August 15, 2014, at Sunrise of Wall, where she had resided for the past six years.
Gerry was the only child of Dr. William and Edith Pawling. She grew up in Spring Lake as a descendent of Capt. Samuel Ludlow, whose historic home still stands on Ludlow Avenue, and graduated from Manasquan High School. She resided in Newark, Little Silver, Manasquan, Baltimore, Sea Girt and Allenwood before moving to upstate New York. She returned to New Jersey in 1990 and to Spring Lake in 2000, where she enjoyed tending her garden and having family and friends visit.
Gerry learned drafting World War II and later worked in real estate and as an interviewer.
Gerry loved the beach and swimming in the ocean. She was an excellent cook and accomplished knitter.
Gerry was predeceased by her daughter Shelley in 2009, by her son Bill in 2013, and by her grandson Tom in 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Justine, and her sons Mark, Rick and Patrick as well as daughters-in-law Ruth and Abbie and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Contributions in her name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of your choice.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Kindly contact the funeral home for specific details of the Memorial to honor Gerry.
