Obituary for Margaret Myrtle Pinkman (Evans)

Margaret Myrtle Evans Pinkman passed peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, Pa. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Margaret was born on January 2, 1922 in Irvington, NJ. She was the second of three children born to John and Christine Evans. She attended Irvington High School, where she met lifelong friend Ruth Austin Barrett. Margaret graduated from Whitman Junior College and enjoyed many professional pursuits, including a position with Prudential Insurance Company. Margaret was a proud member of the Junior Seaton League, an ardent traveler and a great dancer. Being civic-minded, she was a regular volunteer with the Monmouth County, NJ Board of Election.

Margaret Evans and James Joseph Pinkman were married on August 14, 1954 in Newark, NJ. Having married a career military officer, James, Margaret and their young family crisscrossed the United States moving from one military station to another. They eventually settled in Brielle, NJ, where they lived for 31 years.

Margaret is predeceased by husband of 43 years James Joseph Pinkman and brothers Clarence and John Evans. She survived by her four children and six grandchildren: daughters Kathleen Mutch (husband John Mutch, Jr.), Elizabeth Chinery (husband Robert Chinery) and Peggy Pinkman (partner Christian May), son Michael Pinkman (wife Pamela Pinkman), granddaughter Christine Mutch (fiancée Stephen Reck), and grandsons James Mutch, Michael Mutch, Ian Mutch, James Pinkman and Nicholas Pinkman.

Margaret will be remembered for her sharp wit, ardent faith and endless generosity.

Viewing hours will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall, NJ. 07719 (Tel: 732-449-6900). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 19 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave. (Hwy 71), Manasquan, NJ, 08736 (Tel: 732-223-0287). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Labre Indian Catholic School, 1000 Tongue River Rd. Ashland, MT, 59003,and Covenant House, Times Square Station, P.O. Box 731
New York, NY 10108-0900. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Thursday.
