Obituary for Patricia M. Leonard

Patricia Leonard, nee Moorhouse, of Howell, N.J.,, died on October 20, 2014 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was a daughter of the late Harold and Sadie Moorhouse, born on February 27, 1938. She is survived by her husband, John, of Howell, and her children, Mary Leonard (Richard Van Donsel) of Cortland, NY, Regina Mule' (Charlie) of Toms River, and John Leonard (Pam Furlong Leonard) of Manasquan, NJ, and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Mule', Charles Mule' and Sarah Leonard, who were the delights of her life. She is also survived by a sister, Dolores Misodoulakis and brother, Harold Moorhouse (and dear nephew, Patrick).

Pat was born in Paterson, graduated from St. joseph's H.S, and was the first in her family to attend college. She won a full scholarship to Holy Family College where she earned a B.A, majoring in English. On October 31, 1959, she married her childhood sweetheart. Pat and John started married life in Paterson and went on to live near Lockport, NY and finally in Howell.

Surprising to some, but not to those familiar with what she jokingly called her "watch it buster" face, Pat at five feet tall was a NJ parole officer for many years. Her lifelong work was in human services.

Ever smart and curious, Pat was a voracious reader, cross word puzzle enthusiast, Scrabble lover, and also played the recorder. She loved photography and their home is filled with her photos of family and nature.

Pat bravely underwent some unusual treatments that her family hopes will serve to help others.
