Obituary for Robert Francis Delaney

Robert Francis  Delaney
Robert F. Delaney, 88, of Brick, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Mr. Delaney was born and raised in Newark, and had been a Jersey Shore resident for many years. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a Pressman for the Newark Evening News and Star-Ledger for many years, before retiring. He was a member of the St. Benedict’s Prep Alumni Association and the Knights of Columbus, as well as an avid Giants fan.
Mr. Delaney was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie (nee Seitz) in 1982, as well as by his son Robert, in 1962, and his daughter Denise Delaney, in 2012. He was also predeceased by his brother, George V. Delaney. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Roland) and his children and their spouses, Kathleen Jones, of Alexandria, Va., Debra and Brad Roleke, of Beachwood, N.J., and JP and Claire Delaney, of Navesink, N.J. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brielle Meyerson, Matthew and Sarah Roleke, and Christopher and Chloe Delaney, as well as by his sister, Mary Rajkowski.
There will be no visiting hours. Everyone is invited to attend the funeral Mass at St. Dominic’s Church, Brick, on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at 10 A.M., followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Delaney’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
