Obituary for William W. Worrall

Former Staten Island resident William (Bill) W. Worrall, 86, of Brick NJ died Friday at Ocean County Medical Center following a valiant fight with cancer.

Mr. Worrall was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, where he attended Fort Hamilton High School prior to joining the U.S. Navy in 1945. William completed his GED when he returned safely from the war in 1948. He also attended Pace University in New York City.

William met his soon-to-be wife Joanne in 1946 while on leave. In November 1952, they were married at Our Lady of Angels R.C. Church in Bay Ridge. They remained in Brooklyn until 1962, when they moved with their daughter Judith to the West Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island. He was an active member of the Youth Activities Council at Sacred Heart Church.

William worked for the U.S. Rubber Company, the Staten Island Advance, and Star Industries in their Sales Departments. He was an outgoing man- he loved meeting people and could hold a conversation with anyone. In 2000, William and Joanne moved to Brick NJ to enjoy their retirement years.

William was a lifelong NY Giants and NY Yankees fan and an avid gardener. He enjoyed watching the wildlife in his backyard and followed the stock market daily.

William is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Joanne (Joan) Gilmartin; his daughter Judith Driscoll; son-in-law Charles Driscoll; grandchildren Katherine and Matthew Driscoll; four nieces; and many dear friends.
