Obituary for Gertrude Macauley (Riley)
Gertrude Macauley, 96, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2014 at her home in Brick.
Born in Connecticut to the late James and Margaret Riley, she was a longtime resident of Linden before moving to Brick in 1981. Gertrude dedicated her life to raising her family, she was very active in her Green Briar I community, and was a devout parishioner of Epiphany R.C. Church in Brick. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and spending quality time with her cherished family and community friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Ellis McCracken in 1975, her second husband Frederick Macauley in 2001, her sisters, Helen, Anne, Rita, and Loretta, and her dear grandson Collin McCracken.
Surviving are her loving children, Ellis McCracken and wife Jacquelyn, Robert McCracken and wife Dayle, and Trudy McCracken, her three caring step daughters, Mary Anne Lieb, Michelle Latham, and Patty Jensen, her 18 cherished grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 2:00 to 6:00PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM on Monday, December 1st at Epiphany R.C. Church, Brick. Interment will follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gertrude’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
