Laurette I. Viola, 89, of Lake Como, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2014, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, N.J.
Born in Vaires Sur Marne, France, Laurette resided in Holmdel, NJ for over 20 years, and most recently in Lake Como. Mrs. Viola came to the United States as a War World II war bride, and resided in New York City, before moving to Holmdel in 1960. She earned a nursing assistant degree while raising her family. She travelled frequently to France and Italy, and enjoyed visiting art museums and historic sights. Laurette was an avid reader, and also spent much time in prayerful reflection, but her greatest devotion was to her family.
Laurette was predeceased by her husband, Vincent, who passed away in 1978, and her son Joseph, who passed away in 2011.
Mrs. Viola is survived by her three children, Frank Viola, Lake Como, NJ, Anthony (Maury) Viola, Guttenberg, NJ, and Maria (Tom) Tuttle, Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and her three great grandchildren .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church, 603 7th Avenue, Belmar, N.J. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Franciscan Friars, St. Bernard Monastery, 788 Monastery Road, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
