Obituary for George Richard Liebenberg Jr.

George Richard Liebenberg, Jr., 86 died at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Brick on January 22, 2015 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret Jeanne Liebenberg, who died this past March, and his parents, George R. Liebenberg, Sr. and Margaret O’Reilly Liebenberg.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1950-1952. He enjoyed a career in office furniture sales with Robert Williams, Inc. in Scotch Plains and is a former volunteer fire chief of the Highland Park Fire Department and member of the Association of Exempt Firefighters in Highland Park. Born in New Brunswick August 14, 1928, he was a lifelong New Jersey resident. He lived in Highland Park for more than fifty years and moved to Point Pleasant Beach in 1975, where he pursued his love of boating, classic automobiles, and wood-working.

He is survived by his dear sons, George M. Liebenberg (Robin) of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Chris W. Liebenberg (Jamie) of Schwenksville, PA, and his granddaughters, the lights of his life, Amanda Jeanne Liebenberg of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ and Heidi, Haley Margaret and Holly Liebenberg of Schwenksville, PA.

Memorial visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday, January 29th at St. Peter's R.C. Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
