Obituary for Johanna C. "Joyce" Hale (Hendriks)

Johanna C. Hale, “Joyce” 83, of Spring Lake Heights, and formerly of Sea Girt passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Johanna was born in Scheveningen, the Hague, Netherlands where she was a 6th cousin of the Queen of Holland. She came to the United States in December 1978 from Ekeren, Belgium and resided in Sea Girt for many years.
She was a long-time resident of Sea Girt and had been a significant donor of various Catholic and secular non-profit organizations. She also received awards for her skills as a seamstress at The Hague, Netherlands and Auckland, New Zealand. She was also a Garden Club Winner in Belgium and New Jersey. She was a very caring, giving and loving person and always had a great smile on her face.
Johanna was predeceased by her husband Frank and a step-son Frank Hale Jr. She is survived by her son Warner A. Hale of Geneva, Switzerland, her 3 grandchildren Daine, Salomé and Julian Hale, as well as close companion friends, Sharon White, Ray Capelli, Mary, Nunu, Nina, Carl F., and an extensive family in the Netherlands.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:00am at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Entombment will be in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt thereafter.
