Obituary for Mary Birle (Dailey)

Mary (nee Dailey) Birle, 86, of Wall Township passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at her residence with her loving family at her bedside.
Mary was born in Newark and grew up in Belleville. After marrying, she lived in Bloomfield, Montclair and Manasquan before moving to Wall 24 years ago.
A graduate of Belleville High School, Mount St. Vincent College in Riverdale, N.Y., and St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, Mary was a registered nurse who worked at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark and Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. Later in her career, she served as a substitute school nurse in Monmouth County and as an executive secretary at Brielle Galleries, Brielle, N.J.
She was a communicant of St. Marks’ Roman Catholic Church in Sea Girt.
Mary was predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth (nee Michie) Dailey and three of her children: daughter Marianne, and twin sons Peter and Oscar. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years Oscar Birle; her sister Jean Dailey, Wall Township; her two daughters, Mary Ellen Maffucci and Marybeth McGinn, Point Pleasant Boro and Andover, Mass., respectively; and her son Peter Birle and his wife Joann, Westfield, N.J.
Mary was the adored grandmother of nine grandchildren and their spouses: Kristin (nee Maffucci) O’Halloran and her husband Sean, Wall Township; Lauren (nee Maffucci) Lepisto and her husband Garrett, Agoura Hills, Calif.; Jeffrey Maffucci, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Brian Maffucci, IS First Class, United States Coast Guard, and his wife Carmen, staff sergeant, United States Air Force, Newport News, Va.; Patrick McGinn, Johnson, Vt.; Peter McGinn, Andover, Mass.; and John, Michael and James Birle, Westfield, N.J. She was the cherished great grandmother of Connor, Makayla and Madelyn O’Halloran, and Callen Lepisto.
In addition to spending time with her family, Mary loved knitting blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren; traveling by cruise ship and train; and, in her younger days, hosting get-togethers for her family and friends.
A memorial Mass was held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in Sea Girt.
