John Thomas Herrmann 81, of Spring Lake Heights, NJ died Monday, April 20, 2015 at Jersey Shore Univ. Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, NJ, John lived in Secaucus, NJ before moving to Spring Lake Heights in the late 1980’s. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a U.S. Postal Inspector for the U.S. Postal Inc., Newark, NJ. He served for over thirty years with the United States Postal Inspectors in various cities across the nation before becoming Postal Inspector in charge of the Boston and then Newark Offices. He was a member of the former Postal Inspectors Organization. John was a parishioner of St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife Bernardine C. Herrmann in 2004, and his brother Frank Joseph Herrmann. Surviving is his sister Mary Buchanan of Narragansett, RI, his sister-in-law, June Herrmann of Lyndhurst, NJ and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visiting will be Thursday, from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be Friday, 9 AM at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. Entombment will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall.
