Harold J.  Stern Sr.
Harold J. Stern, Sr., 93, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2015 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born in Manhattan, NY to the late Samuel and Celia Stern, he was a former longtime resident of Pearl River, New York. Harold attended Roosevelt High School in the Bronx, and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army Air Core during World War II, and was awarded the American Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal as a testament of his honest and faithful service to his country. After his service in the Army, Harold held several Senior Executive positions with the New York State Department of Labor for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks. Harold enjoyed spending quality time with his loving family and friends, as well as gardening, walking, reading, and working at his beloved work bench with his tools.

Surviving are his high school sweet heart, his devoted wife of 68 years, Lillian J. Slavin Stern, his loving sons, Harold and wife Barbara of Rockland County, New York, Dennis and wife Susan of Congers, New York, Gerald and wife Belinda of Georgia, and Edward of Lakewood, his cherished grandchildren, Kelly, Ashley, Christopher, Lauren, and Kristen.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015, from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. Catholic prayers and military honors will be presented at 9:30AM on Monday, July 6th at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown.
