Obituary for Archibald E. King Jr.

Archibald E. King, Jr., 84, of Spring Lake died on August 19, 2015 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents, Archibald & Anna King. He is survived by his wife, Marion, their four children: Archibald (Anne), George (Gail), Charles (Cathleen) and Reverend Andrew King.  He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Thomas, Alexander (Rebecca), Coulter, Mary, Harry, Barrett, Archibald and MacArthur.
 He was a graduate of Georgetown University and of Columbia University School of Law. He began commissioned service in the US Navy upon his graduation from Georgetown University and served on several ships during the Korean War. Following active duty, he continued his service in the US Naval Reserve, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Following a distinguished legal career, he retired in 1990 from JCPenney as an Assistant General Counsel and moved to Spring Lake, NJ. 
Until his retirement, he had been a lifelong resident of New York City and was an active member of his community. He was a founding member of the Turtle Bay Association. He served as Chairman of the Vanderbilt YMCA Board of Directors. The Vanderbilt YMCA dedicated their Early Childhood Center to him in recognition of his tireless work and support.
Guided by his deep faith and strong principles, he devoted his life to his family and friends, his community and his country.  He enriched the lives of all who knew him.
