Obituary for Betty Jean Burbank (Donley)

Betty Jean Burbank nee Donley, 91, of Lakewood formerly of Avon-by-theSea, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Leisure Park Assisted Living in Lakewood. A longtime resident of Cedar Grove, she was a homemaker who raised four children and assisted as a secretary in her husband’s family practice when needed. Mrs. Burbank was a member of the Cedar Grove Bowling League; the Women’s Auxiliary of Montclair; the Cedar Grove and Avon-by-the-Sea Women’s Club; the Cedar Grove Garden Club and the Verona-Cedar Grove Showcase Players Theatre Group. She especially enjoyed singing, crocheting, knitting and playing bridge. Betty Jean was a dedicated mother, loving grandmother and adored great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Born in Morgantown, WV, she attended Meredith College in North Carolina where she met her husband, Daniel, at Duke University. Mrs. Burbank was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Daniel Norman Burbank in 2008; son, Norman Daniel Burbank; parents, Orris Otto and Maude Miller Donley; and sister, Beatrice E. Donley. She is survived by her daughters, Judith Arlene Burbank, Carole Lynn and husband, Anthony Fabiano; son, Robert Christopher Burbank and wife, Lynn Marie; grandchildren, Christopher Burbank and wife, Laurie; Michael and Daniel Fabiano; Andrew, Sean and Brian Burbank; and great grandchildren, twins, Madison and Daniel Burbank. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in the name of Betty Jean Burbank to the Cancer Research Organization or the Alzheimer’s Association.
