Obituary for James J. Connelly Sr.

James J. Connelly, Sr. 74, of Brick, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2015 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick in the company of his sons. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, James went onto serve his country in the United States Navy, ranking as a Petty Officer Aviation. Furthering his civil service, Mr. Connelly devoted himself to the New York City Fire Department for many years before his retirement. He was a man devoted to his family, and enjoyed the quality time spent with them. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren Ryan, Taylor, Devin, Breanna, Christopher and Alexis.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Diana Dubina Connelly in 2008.

Surviving are his loving sons, James J. Connelly, Jr. and wife Jacquelyn, Robert J. Connelly and partner Kenneth Baer, and Christopher Connelly and Corrine Connelly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:30AM at St. Martha’s R.C. Church, Point Pleasant. Interment will follow at St. Anne Cemetery, Wall Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
