Obituary for Rosaleen Schwahn (Quinn)

Rosaleen Schwahn, 74, of Brick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rosaleen was born in New York City, and grew up on the Upper West Side. She attended Ascension School, class of 1955, and Julia Richman High School on the East Side. Rosaleen had a long secretarial career with Chase Manhattan, the Franklin Society, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and St. Clare’s Hospital, all in New York City. In 2004, she retired after 20 years with the New York Institute for Special Education in the Bronx.
Rosaleen was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Quinn; and her brother Hugh Quinn.
In 1982, she married her husband, Brian G. Schwahn of the Bronx. They lived in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx for 22 years, before moving to Brick after their retirement.
Rosaleen is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Brian G. Schwahn; her sister, Margaret Stevens and her husband Carl of Hoboken; sister-in-law, Kathleen Quinn of Spring Lake Heights and Eastchester, NY; her nieces, Carol Lippincott and husband, Chris of Upper Montclair, and Jennifer Trupia and husband, Frank of Verona: as well as many extended family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00PM and 7:00 to 9:00PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Saturday at The Church of the Epiphany, Brick. Final interment will take place privately at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rosaleen’s memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.StJude.org) or Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY (www.CalvaryHospital.org)
