Obituary for John E. "Jack" Carley

John E. “Jack” Carley, Jr. 86, of Brick, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2015 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Born in the Bronx, NY to the late John E. Sr. and Maude Carley, he was raised in Garwood, NJ, and was a long time resident of both Point Pleasant Beach and Boro, before moving to Green Briar I in Brick. Mr. Carley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He went on to work for Bell Labs, where he was a part of the Telstar 1 Satellite which was the world’s first active communication satellite. Jack retired from Bell Labs in 1984 after 25 years of innovation. Mr. Carley was a member of the Point Pleasant Elks Lodge #1698 and a founder of Point Pleasant Soccer. He was a former Point Pleasant Beach Town Council Member and enjoyed sailing, traveling, and staying active. Most of all, Jack enjoyed the quality time spend with his friends and cherished family.
He was preceded in death by his dear sister Irene Franks.
Surviving are his beloved wife Nancy Hinman Carley, his loving sons Glen Carley and wife Pam, Roy Carley and wife Laurie, his cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy (Julie), Aaron, Ryan, and Jordan, his great grandchildren Layla and Caleb, and his dear sister Alice Miller.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. Funeral services will be held with military honors at 5:00PM at the funeral home.
