Sally Smith Reeves, 75, passed away on April 30,2016, at her home in Lakewood with her family at her side. Born in Elizabeth to Andrew and Mary Chambers Smith, Sally grew up in Spring Lake Heights. She was president of the student council and graduated from Manasquan High School in 1957. After high school, she attended Albright College in Reading, PA where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education, majoring in Math. Sally accepted a study abroad in Okinawa where she taught at the Kedena Airforce Base. Returning home, Sally began teaching and stayed at Toms River Intermediate West where she taught 7th & 8th grade, receiving the Teacher of the Year Award.
Sally married Robert Stemmermann in 1969 in Spring Lake. They were married for 19 years before his passing in 1989. Sally met and is happily married to her devoted and loving husband, Dr. Robert Reeves.
Sally enjoyed her many travels with her husband; she was a wonderful life tutor to many and a loving caregiver to her granddaughter and little buddy Savanna. She so took great joy in caring for her family and being the best “Mumsie" she could be.
Surviving are her spouse, Dr. Robert Reeves; her children- Andrew Stemmermann & wife Madhu, William Stemmermann & wife Marlene, Nannette Eyeres & husband Kevin, Mary Cruz & husband Stephen, Karen Carney, Lisa Reeves & her partner Mindy; and her grandchildren- Allison, Savanna, Mark, and Marissa. She also leaves her siblings- Andrew "Pete" Smith & wife Donna, Linda Gahr, Susan Feeney, and Sharon Kennedy & husband Robert. She was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Purcell.
Memorial Visitation will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, on Thursday from 6-9pm. “You are a champion Sister, a wonderful wife, and the best Mom and Mumsie anyone could have.”
