Angela Karalis, 85, of Brick passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Karalis was a computer specialist for the NYC Transit Authority in Manhattan for many years before retiring in 2001. She was a communicant of St. Martha’ RC Church in Point Pleasant and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a past president of the Winding River Village Women’s Club in Brick and was co-editor of the Winding River Gazette.
Born and raised in Little Italy in Manhattan, she raised her family in Bay Ridge Brooklyn before moving to Brick in 2002.
Mrs. Karalis was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Figliuolo; brother, Frank Figliuolo; and brother-in-law, Charles Monteleone.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Basciano and her husband, Anthony of Brick; sister, Rosemary Monteleone of Brick; grandchildren, Mallory Zubikowski and Alexander Zubikowski; as well as her nieces and nephew, Valerie Murphy and her husband, Tom and their children of Old Bridge, Christine Monteleone and her son of South Hampton, NY and Vincent Monteleone and his wife, Jackie of Jersey City.
Visiting will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday 11am at St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant. Interment will be private.
