Obituary for Lorraine Jill "Lori" McBride (Tilson)

Lorraine Jill "Lori" McBride (Tilson)
Lorraine “Lori” J. Tilson McBride, age 53, of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, loving wife, mother, sister, teacher and Girl Scout leader, lost her long battle with breast cancer, passing away peacefully and gracefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 25, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Lori was born in Red Bank, NJ, on May 23, 1963 in Eatontown, NJ. She graduated from Monmouth Regional High School, studied Spanish at Madrid University, Spain, graduated from Brookdale Community College, and graduated from Monmouth University, Summa Cum Laude. Lori then became a Spanish teacher at Bond Street School, Asbury Park, and then Memorial School, Eatontown, before becoming mother to her six children with husband Kerry.
Although Lori had many professional accolades, her primary source of pride was being a great wife to her husband Kerry and raising her 6 children. She was very involved as a Girl Scout Leader in Spring Lake Heights for her 5 daughters and 3 different troops. She loved Camp Sacajawea and going camping with all her girl scouts. Lori was a marathon runner and was fluent in multiple languages.
Lori was predeceased by her parents Milton Earl and Garcia Boyd Tilson Jr, her brother Glen Tilson and her in-laws John and Gertrude McBride.
Lori is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 29 ½ years Kerry J. McBride, her 6 cherished children, Orla, Eden, Emma, Erin, Abby, and Ryan McBride, all at home, her siblings James Tilson, Carol Wright, and Marilyn Jones, Kerry’s siblings, Colleen Vintzileos, Maureen Montano, John McBride and Brian McBride and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at St. Margaret’s Church, Corner of 3rd and Ludlow Aves., Spring Lake. There will not be a procession from the funeral home prior to the Mass on Friday morning so please go directly to St. Margaret’s. Entombment will be in St. Catharine’s Mausoleum, Sea Girt.
As floral tributes are not allowed in Church, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Friends of Lori McBride GoFundMe site (https://www.gofundme.com/22cbh29u) for the benefit of Lori’s six children.
