Obituary for Russell A. Novak

Russell A. Novak
Russell A. Novak, 62, of Brick passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in New Brunswick and grew up in Perth Amboy, graduating from Perth Amboy High School before moving to Howell in 1988 and to Brick in 1999. Russ was a natural athlete and excelled in all of the many sports he played: baseball, basketball, football, boxing and golf. There was little he couldn’t do and would often surprise his family by casually mentioning unusual things he knew, such as speaking some Japanese or being able to play the drums and guitar. He loved woodworking, fishing and spending time outdoors, but his greatest joy was his family, who adored him in return. Russ imparted his love of fishing and the outdoors on his children who will greatly miss his sense of humor and wonderful stories. Russ was a communicant of The Church of the Epiphany in Brick.
Mr. Novak was predeceased by his parents, John and Carolyn Novak. Surviving are his partner, Ann Delgado of Brick; daughter, Amy Novak of Forked River; son, Russell Novak, Jr. of Brick; brother, Perry Novak of Boardman, OH; and sister, Marie Francy of Toms River.
Visiting will be on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday 10am at The Church of the Epiphany, 615 Thiele Road, Brick. Burial will follow at Alpine Cemetery, 703 Amboy Avenue, Perth Amboy. Donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses c/o Ann Delgado 191 Briar Mills Drive, Brick NJ 08724.
