Obituary for Patrick M. "Paddy Mac" McAleer Sr.

Patrick M. "Paddy Mac"  McAleer Sr.
Patrick M. McAleer, Sr., 73, of Lake Como, NJ and Ocala, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in Florida with his wife by his side. Patrick was affectionately known to the Jersey Shore community as Paddy Mac. Along with his cousin, Kevin McDonald he co owned Paddy McDonald’s Ale House on 18th Avenue in Lake Como. After opening the establishment in 1997, Paddy Mac quickly became a beloved figure for the entire Jersey Shore and through the years has evolved to legendary status. His mild manner and generosity over the years will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Patrick worked many years with Prudential-Bache Securities Inc. in New York City as Vice President of Corporate Communications. He retired from JP Morgan Chase in 1991. He then entered the bar industry opening Paddy Mac’s in Patchogue, Long Island.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 – 1965.
Born in Manhattan, he lived in Medford, Long Island and Lake Como, NJ before recently moving to Ocala, FL.
Patrick was predeceased by his brother, Thomas A. McAleer. Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ann (Brady) McAleer; two daughters, Michele Ann McAleer of Fishkill, NY and Jennifer Goff of Brookhaven, NY, and son Patrick M. McAleer Jr. of Astoria, NY; as well as his beloved grandchildren, Kyle and Sean Goff.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A prayer service will be offered at 8:45pm in the funeral home. Burial and military honors will take place privately at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. Donations may be made in his name to Veterans Count at vetscount.org.
