Obituary for Nino Demetrius Caridi

Nino Demetrius  Caridi
Nino Demetrius Caridi, 90, of Spring Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at his home, in the embrace of his loving family.
Nino will be remembered by all for his kindness, compassion, gentleness, and his depth of love for his family. He will be greatly missed for the humor and generosity of spirit that he shared with everyone who encountered him.
Born in West New York, New Jersey, Nino was a patriot who served two tours of duty during WWII as a ranger in the US Army 10th Mountain Division. During his service as a radio operator, he was decorated with numerous medals and citations. Duty and service were central aspects of his nature.
Nino graduated from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, obtained his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s Law School in New York, and was admitted to the Bar in New Jersey and New York. Nino believed that everyone deserved the rights that are guaranteed by our constitution, and fought for their protection in all of his professional endeavors.
Nino was predeceased by his beloved parents, Dr. Salvatore and Carmela Caridi, and his sister Josephine Raccuia. He served as president of the Leonardo Da Vinci Society, an organization that his father founded.
He is survived by Stella, his loving wife of 63 years, his sister, Rosina Paprota of Fort Lee, and his beloved children and their spouses, Carmela and Mark Pavliv of Spring Lake, Dr. Elisa Caridi and Dr. Jason Stark of Holmdel, Dr. Salvatore and Sindy Caridi of Ormond Beach, Florida, Stella and Christopher Corcoran of Hackettstown, and Nina and Dr. Michael Conn, of Ridgewood. Also surviving are his 15 grandchildren, Ian, Alicia, Dr. Alexander, Stefan, Sara, Dante, Sandro, Rachel, Michelle, Daniel, Alessa, Hannah, Elliot, Emma, and Matteo, and his 5 great grandchildren Cecilia, Lily, Iris, Alexander, and Lorenzo.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ 07719 on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am Monday, August 22, at St. Catharine’s RC Church 215 Essex Ave.,Spring Lake, NJ 07762. Entombment will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
In lieu of flowers, the Caridi family suggests that donations be made to the Veterans Community Alliance, 68 Shady Lane, Freehold, New Jersey 07728.
