Mary “Karen” Bergen, 71, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at her home.
Karen was born in Orange to the late George E. and Elizabeth Jean (Lavery) Holliday. She resided in Cranford before moving to Point Pleasant in 1972. She was an active member of St. Martha’s Church. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her 6 children, and the World’s Greatest Nana to her 10 grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Harry E. Bergen, and by her children and their spouses, Beth and Ken Hudson, Brick, Bernadette and Savino Cuppari, Ocean, George Bergen, Freehold, Kurt and Kristen Bergen, Point Pleasant, Eric and Joanna Bergen, Salisbury, NC, and Brad and Laura Bergen, Point Pleasant. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Santino Cuppari, Emma, Sean, Alexander, JB, Daniel and Anna Bergen, and Melinda, Eliza and Daisy Hudson. Karen is survived by her sisters, Lynn Intili and Elizabeth Coe, and was recently predeceased by her younger sister, Tricia Fecho. Also surviving are other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Thursday, August 25, 2016, from 4-8 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant, on Friday, August 26, 2016, at 9:30 AM, followed by burial at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
