Paul A.  Prekop Sr.
Paul A. Prekop, Sr., 84, of Brick, NJ who loved to fish made his last cast on earth, passing away on September 20, 2016. He was the son of Woodbridge Fire Chief, John J. Prekop and mother, Elizabeth. He grew up on Old Grove Avenue in Woodbridge, NJ. Paul graduated from Woodbridge High School having a love of woodworking and enjoyed working with his hands! He proudly served his country in the US National Guard in Sea Girt, NJ. Paul’s career was a Millwright for Rheem Manufacturing in Linden, NJ. He was a volunteer Firefighter with the Sayreville Fire Department, loved Monmouth Park Race Track, Ballroom Dancing, fishing on the Gambler in Point Pleasant Beach and feeding the seagulls at the Manasquan Inlet. In the 1990’s, Paul and his wife, Carolyn relocated to Florida where Paul helped his community build a Veterans Memorial and raised funds for various charities.
Paul’s passing was preceded by his loving wife, Carolyn V. Prekop, of 55 years; and brother, John Prekop.
Paul is survived by his sister, Mary Bakos of Brick, NJ and his son Paul Prekop, Jr., and his wife, Terry and granddaughter, Alexis Smith, and her husband, Lance; grandson, Paul Prekop, III and two grandchildren, Haylee Elizabeth and Jarett James of Las Vegas, NV; his daughter, Kimberly A. Potter, and her husband, Craig of Manasquan, NJ; granddaughter, Lindsay A. Jones, and her boyfriend, Matt Majkotoski of Brick, NJ; and his beloved dance partner, Joan Mitryk. Paul will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-4pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ. A prayer service will be conducted at 3pm with Pastor Mary Farnham officiating. Interment will be private. Flowers or a donation to www.firehero.org/donate/ in his name would be greatly appreciated.
