Obituary for Howard W. "Buddy" Daly

Howard W. Daly, or as everyone knew him, "Buddy," has passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in Point Pleasant New Jersey on Monday, October 24, 2016.

Mr. Daly was born November 22, 1951 in Leonardtown, Maryland while on a family vacation and is pre-deceased by his parents Harry W. and Isabel Daly, and his beloved brother Billy Daly of Bayonne.

Buddy, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, graduated from Montclair State University.
He was a dedicated History teacher at Bayonne high school for 39 years before retiring in 2012.
Buddy was the head freshman football coach in the late seventies. In 1977, the freshman team was Hudson County Champions and won the Bayonne High School Freshman Award for being undefeated and unscored upon, then undefeated once again in 1978.

A loving and loyal father and friend, Buddy was also a member of the NJEA and the treasurer of the Bayonne Teachers Association for twenty years.

He was a Roman Catholic and a member of Saint Martha's RC Church in Point Pleasant, who loved fishing, the beach, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his two sons, Matthew Daly and his wife, Christina of Bayonne; Timothy Daly of Tinton Falls; daughter, Jennifer Daly of Manasquan; two sisters, Diane Carr and her husband, Ronnie, and Debbie Kaczka and her husband, John of Bayonne; brother, Harry Daly and his wife, Karen of Spotswood; three grandchildren, Nyla Shea, Daniela Rose, and Alexandra Rae Daly; former wife of 37 years, Colleen Daly of Port Monmouth; girlfriend and companion of 12 years, Susan V. Smith and their German Shepherd, Sully of Point Pleasant; as well as many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial Will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday October 28th at Saint Martha's RC Church in Point Pleasant. Interment will be private.
