Obituary for Dominick S. Romano

Dominick S. Romano, 83, of Lakewood passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Romano worked as a clerk at Off Track Betting in Staten Island before retiring. He served his country in the US Army and after being honorably discharged he served in the US National Guard. Mr. Romano was a bowling legend at Ocean Lanes in Brick, enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and loved the New York Mets but most of all enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Canarsie, Brooklyn he lived in Oakwood and Great Kills sections of Staten Island before moving to Lakewood 23 years ago.
Mr. Romano was predeceased by his loving wife, Antoinette (Crudele) Romano in 1986. He is survived by his four sons, Michael Romano and his wife, Melissa of Bel Aire, MD, John Romano and his wife, Gerry of Brick, Dominick Romano and his wife, Rosaura of Queen Creek, AZ, and Frank Romano and his partner, Daniel of Brick; two daughters, Debra Delaglio and her husband, Nick of Staten Island, NY, and Dawn Gianfrancesco and her husband, James of Lakewood; brother, Frank Romano and his wife, Jeannie of Florida; sisters, Irene Gipson and her husband, Jim of Oklahoma and Rita Romano of Florida; eighteen grandchildren, Nicole and her husband, Matthew, Craig and his wife, Lauren, Crystal and her husband, Hiram, Joey, Allie, Charlie, Anthony, Olivia, Delaney, James Jr., Ashley, Nicholas, Jason and his wife, Casandra, Michael and his wife, Christine, Dominick, Amanda, Victoria, and Angela; six great grandchildren, Isabella, Mia, Christopher, Giovanni, Joseph and Michael as well as two additional great-grandchildren expected in January 2017.
Visiting will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday 10am at St. Dominic’s RC Church in Brick. Entombment will be at Moravian Cemetery, in Staten Island. Donations may be made in his name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Foundation.
