Obituary for Robert Thomas Nitto

Robert Thomas Nitto, 89, of Wall Township died Wednesday, October 26, 2016. He was the loving husband of his wife Anne for 61 years and was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Bob was a graduate of Seton Hall University and also attended Fordham Law School.
He resided at Xanadu at Wall but formerly of Fairway Mews where he was a member of the Men’s Golf Club. He was an usher for 30 years at the 7:00am Sunday Mass at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.
Bob had been employed as a Vice President at Kresge Newark Department Store and then Senior Vice President at Gimbel’s Department Store, New York City. He also was a part time professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
He was fortunate to have traveled world-wide but was most happy when he was home with his wife watching their children and grandchildren participate in their various sports and activities.
The Yankees and Giants were his favorite teams, but Villanova Men’s Basketball team was his passion.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Jennie Manla Nitto and his siblings Carl, Harold, Richard and Louise.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife Anne (nee Hanlon) Nitto, his son Robert and wife Susan of Greenville, South Carolina, his daughter Joanne Roessner and husband Richard of Wall Twp. and Naples, Fla., and daughter Catherine Hart and husband Robert of Wall, and his 8 grandchildren Kristen, Kimmie, Killian, Bobby, Christopher, Paul, Caiti and Jillian and his 6 great grandchildren Payton, Logan, Anthony, Ryker, Leyna, and Jeremiah.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 8:30am to 10:00am at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am at St. Catharine’s RC Church, 215 Essex Ave, Spring Lake. Entombment in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Way, Memphis, Tenn., 38105 in his memory. Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home on Wednesday.
