M. Gloria Burt, 91, of Spring Lake Heights, passed away on October 26, 2016. Born in Orange, Gloria spent her life there until moving to Millburn and Short Hills before settling at The Arbors in Spring Lake Heights in 1994.
Gloria graduated from Marylawn Academy and The College of St. Elizabeth where she was the editor of the Pelican and art editor of the literary magazine. She went on to earn her teacher certification from Newark State Teachers College, and proudly taught in the Orange school system for 39 years.
Upon retirement, Gloria was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary at St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills, she volunteered at St. Ann’s School in Newark and the Rosary Shrine in Summit.
Gloria’s passion for learning was only surpassed by her passion for travel. She was blessed to see many parts of the world and met some wonderful people along her way. She will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Avenue, Spring Lake, at 9am on Monday, with Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Orange, NJ
