Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Reddington can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Robert L Reddington

Robert  L  Reddington
Robert L. Reddington, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Bob grew up in Verona and has resided in Bay Head full time since 1969.

Robert served in the United States Marines and was a Lieutenant with the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

Bob was the last member of the “Rifters” gang from Verona with all his childhood friends. He was an avid sailor and was one of the founding members of the CAT Boat Association. Bob was the recipient of an award from the Carnegie Hero Fund for saving two drowning victims during July of 1966. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Bay Head Fire Company #1. Bob was affectionately known to all who knew him as “Bad Bob.”

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice Ann in 2012; his son, Robert J. Reddington; his daughter, Cheryl Ann Martindell and his sister, Pat Rogers.

Surviving are his daughter; Mary-Jo LaRue and her husband Todd and his son John Reddington and his wife Terri; his brother Rick Reddington; his grandchildren; Lee, Lindsey, Logan, Michael, Matthew and Mary.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart RC Church, Bayhead. Interment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, 212 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 or Pt. Pleasant Beach First Aid and Emergency Squad.
