Obituary for Richard G. Timmerman Sr.

Richard G. Timmerman, Sr., 90, of Wall, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017, at his home.
Mr. Timmerman was born in Yonkers, N.Y. and raised in Ft. Lee, N.J. He was a graduate of Mt. St. Michael’s Academy in the Bronx. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduated from Monmouth University. He served in the Navy during WWII, aboard LST-138. He was employed as a Research & Development Chemist with Bel-Ray Inc., in Farmingdale. He also taught history and coached track at St. Rose High School, Belmar, years ago. He was a member of the American Legion and the Navy League, and enjoyed gardening and boating.
Mr. Timmerman was predeceased by his siblings, Donald Timmerman and Viola Mundhenk. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lorraine (Fitzgerald), and by their children and their spouses, Richard and Annette Timmerman, Pt. Pleasant, Lorraine and Bob Keynton, Spring Lake Heights, Wayne and Donna Timmerman, Jensen Beach, Fl., and CaronGayle and Bobby Flagg, Pt. Pleasant. Also surviving are their grandchildren, Brandon, Jayme, and Amy Timmerman, Kerry Spadafora, and Georgianna, Colette and Ainsley Flagg, and great-grandchildren, Kyla, Gracie and Zayne Timmerman, and Christopher and Matthew Decker. He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of another great-grandson, Owen Timmerman. He is also survived by his in-laws, Betty Timmerman and Larry Mundhenk.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, on Friday, at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place at the N.J. Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donation in Mr. Timmerman’s memory may be made to Meridian Hospice, 1340 Campus Parkway, Wall, NJ 07753.
