Edward Dyjeczynski “Ocean Eddie”, 82, of Wall formerly of Bayonne and Jersey City passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. Ocean Eddie was a legendary tavern owner and manager of Ocean Eddie’s Tavern and The Brass Rail in Jersey City for over 50 years. During his time, he was beloved by all walks of life, cops, firemen and ironworkers, you name it! He was even known to have coined the phrase “Happy Hour”.
He was a graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City and proudly served his country in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant from 1958-1962 and was part of the Army Security Agency. He was a member of the Manasquan VFW Post #1838 and the Am Vets of Jersey City.
Ocean Eddie was a son of gun, fun loving guy and was loved by all.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Helen Dyjeczynski. Surviving are is his long-time companion, Connie White; sister, Lorraine Valitutto and her husband, Richard of Greensboro, NC; nephews, Richard Valitutto and his wife, Julene and their children, and Paul Valitutto his godson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:30am at St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant. Burial will be held privately at the NJ Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown. Donations may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
