Obituary for Rita M Hurley (McCloskey )

Rita M. Hurley, age 95, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at McAuley Hall Healthcare Center in Watchung. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Rita has resided in Lakewood at Leisure Village East for over 30 years.
Mrs. Hurley worked at the Board of Estimate for the City of New York for many years.
Rita was an avid bridge player and was a member of the pioneer club. She also was a volunteer at Deborah and Ocean Medical Centers.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, John in 1989; son in law Robert Conroy; brothers, William McCloskey, George McCloskey, Edward McCloskey, James McCloskey; and sister, Helen Hamill.
Surviving are her children, John “Jack” Hurley and his wife Jeanne, Barbara Conroy and Kevin Hurley and his wife Lisa; her 6 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 9-10:30 at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick followed by an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Martha’s RC Church, Point Pleasant. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Ocean Ride, 1959 Route 9, Toms River, NJ 08754
