Obituary for Dr. Alan Mortazavi

Dr. Alan  Mortazavi
Dr. Alan Mortazavi, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Born in Hamadan, Iran, Alan was one of 11 siblings. At an early age, he excelled in mathematics and obtained a medical degree from Tehran University. Alan came to the United States in 1958 to become a general surgeon. One of his first stops was an apartment in the Bronx overlooking Yankee Stadium. Alan eventually settled in Garden City, NY where he lived for over 38 years and raised his three sons before moving to Lakewood, NJ in 2006.

Dr. Mortazavi was a highly respected surgeon, who practiced medicine for 50 years on Long Island, NY. He saved many lives during his time in practice. Alan was an avid Yankees fan and a passionate golfer. He also enjoyed ski trips around the world and weekly poker games with friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mona Mortazavi; his three loving sons, David and his wife Rebecca, Steven and his wife Darcy and Daniel and his wife Katya; his three grandchildren, Sam, Matthew and Hannah.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick with family remarks beginning at 3:00 p.m.

The family of Dr. Alan Mortazavi have indicated that contributions can be made in his name to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Center, NY, where Dr. Mortazavi was an attending physician for almost 40 years.
