Obituary for Laurette E. VanPelt (Fox)
Laurette E. VanPelt, 88 of Wall Township and formerly of Allentown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at her home surrounded by her devoted family.
Laurette was born in Long Branch to Wallace and Laura (nee Allen) Fox, and raised her family in Brielle and then in Allentown where she resided before moving to Wall Twp, 10 years ago.
Laurette along with her late husband Richard and children were the owners of Hickory Ridge Horse Farm, Allentown and the Wild Horse Cattle Ranch, McAlester, Oklahoma. They had also owned a small farm in Allenwood, section of Wall Twp.
Laurette was a devout Catholic and long time parishioner of St. Denis Church, Manasquan and a member of the Women’s Club of the Church.
She was also a member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge # 2534.
Laurette was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband Richard L. Van Pelt in February 2006 and her siblings Margaret Davidson, Eleanor Tunison, Robert Fox and Nancy Lott.
She is survived by her devoted children and their spouses, Richard VanPelt and wife Cynthia of Manasquan, Deborah DiArchangel and husband Daniel of Tinton Falls, James VanPelt and wife Michele of McAlester, Ok., and Shirley Schwier and husband Thomas of Stuart, Fla. , her 6 grandchildren; Heather, Thomas, Daniel, Jesse, Matthew, and Austin, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 9:30am at St. Denis RC Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ 08736. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport in the VanPelt plot.
