Obituary for Richard L Katchuk

Richard  L  Katchuk
Richard Katchuk, age 69, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). Born and raised in New York City, Richard lived in Hackensack before moving to Point Pleasant Boro where he has resided for the past 26 years.

Richard was a 1967 graduate of Rice High School in New York City. He then went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.

Mr. Katchuk was a Corrections Officer with the Bergen County Sherriff’s Department for 17 years before his retirement.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legions in Brick.

Richard was an avid fisherman and enjoyed custom knives. He also loved listening to oldies music at the Manasquan Inlet. His greatest joy was his five grandchildren.

Richard was a recipient of a donor heart which he was so grateful to receive.

He is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Josephine Katchuk and his brother Alex Katchuk.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 27 years, Eileen Katchuk; his sons, Michael and his wife Rosa, Joseph and his wife Missy and Anthony; his brother Paul Katchuk and his wife Cecylia; his sister in law Nancy Day and her husband Tim; his brother in law Frank Desposito; his nieces Lorraine and Danielle; his nephew PJ; his great nephew Ian; his five grandchildren Steven, Stephanie, Madison, Taylor and Sydney.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martha’s RC Church, Point Pleasant followed by the interment at the NJ Veterans Cemetery.
