Obituary for Rosetta M. Considine (McCarthy)

Rosetta M. Considine (nee McCarthy) formerly of Bayonne and currently of Spring Lake Heights entered into eternal rest at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 10. She was 85 years old.
Rosetta graduated from Bayonne’s Holy Family Academy in 1950 and Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. in 1953, as the Valedictorian in each class. Following graduation, Rosetta began work immediately as a Medical-Surgical Nurse at Bayonne Hospital. Rosetta transitioned to occupational health before learning in the mid-1970s of a position opening at the VNA and Rosetta felt as if it were made for her. She remained a Visiting Nurse Case Manager for 15 years. Rosetta’s career went on to include other positions, as a grammar school & high school nurse and as the nurse in city hall, but she still considers herself a visiting nurse.
Rosetta is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 64 years, Donald, and her five children, Cathleen Mercier (Tim), Pat Cooke (Lee), Eileen Bezeg, Michael Considine (Diane) and Tom Considine (Anne); her 10 grandchildren, Cara Gallagher; Brian and Meredith Cooke; Christopher and Andrew Bezeg; Michael, Patrick, and Jack Considine; Katie, and Brendan Considine. In addition, Rosetta was blessed with two great grandchildren, Ryan and Ian Gallagher.
Rosetta is also survived by her siblings, Clare McCabe, Beatrice McHugh and James McCarthy. She was predeceased by her brothers Eugene and Jack McCarthy.
Upon retirement Rosetta returned to the VNA as a volunteer at the thrift shop. Together with her husband, Donald, Rosetta also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. As an active member of her parish, Rosetta was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish of Spring Lake, NJ.
In addition to her, incomparable courage and strength, Rosetta will be remembered for her Irish wit and her dry sense of humor.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ. Friends may visit at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, NJ from 4-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Rosetta may be directed to VNA NJ Hospice c/o Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Foundation, 23 Main Street, Suite D1, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
