Ruth Ann  Murphy (Wade)
Ruth Ann Murphy, 98, formerly of Toms River passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in Toms River. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Mrs. Murphy was a former volunteer EMT Chief in Rutherford and a librarian at the Pierpont Elementary school also in Rutherford. She also was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting all kinds of landscapes, especially beaches.
Born in Camden, she lived in North Arlington and Rutherford for 26 years before moving to Toms River in 1981.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Murphy in 1991; parents, Robert and Mary Wade; and sisters, Helen Thoms, Grace Ross and Tillie Kenny.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol R. Burr and her husband, Donald of Middletown, Jacqueline Frazier and her husband, David of Waretown, and Ginny Klein and her husband, Robert of Toms River; sons, John Gregory Murphy of Toms River, and Wayne R. Murphy and his wife, Mary Jean of Scotch Plains; brother, Robert Wade and his wife, Helen of Spring Lake; 13 grandchildren, Mike and his wife, Rozalyn, Kevin, Peter and his wife, Amy, Maureen, David and his wife, Carolyn, Kimberly, Lyn and her husband, Aaron, Stephanie and her husband, Luke, Heather and her husband, Scott, Kristen, Dan, Jillian and her husband, John and John; 17 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
Visiting will be on Friday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30am on Saturday at St. Catharine’s RC Church, Spring Lake.
