Obituary for Normand C. Bailey, Deacon

Deacon Normand C. Bailey, 86 of Shark River Hills, Neptune passed away peacefully Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune with his devoted family at his side. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, he had graduated from South Western University, Washington, DC and had been employed as a Budget Officer for the US Government, Washington, D.C. for 30 years. Normand had proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his retirement from government service he was employed at Taylor’s Hardware, Belmar.
Normand was a devout Catholic and was ordained a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church on May 14, 1994 by Bishop John C. Reiss. He served as the 1st Deacon at St. Rose of Lima Church, Belmar. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council of St. Rose, the Altar Rosary Society of the church, and he and his wife Marie volunteered their time as Bereavement Support counselors for 17 years. Deacon Bailey was also a volunteer in Pastoral Care at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. An avid fisherman, he was a member of the Spring Lake Liveliners Club.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years Marie P. Pearson Bailey, his 2 daughters, Maria Tischio of Shark River Hills, Neptune and Michele Marsango and husband Michael of Lakewood, 3 grandchildren Amber, Anthony and his wife Nicole, and Matthew and wife Rebecca, 5 great grandchildren Julia, Tony, Elizabeth, Mia, and Boston, his sister Margie Hardy of Hudson, NH and her 2 sons Eric and Michael Hardy.
Reception of the Body into St. Rose Church will be on Wednesday at 2:00pm followed by visitation until 4:00pm and 7:00pm - 9:00pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Rose RC Church, 603 7th Ave., Belmar, NJ 07719. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Rose Church.
