Obituary for James Francis Spillane

James F. Spillane, (FDNY, Ret.), of Brielle passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Sunnyside Manor, Wall Twp. with his loving daughter and family at his bedside.
Born in New York, NY, he had resided in River Edge for 43 years before moving to Brielle 4 years ago. As a resident of River Edge, he was a Communicant of St. Peter’s Church. As a young man he had sung in Church choirs and had performed in Carnegie Hall. He was a professional firefighter with the FDNY serving at Engine # 46 & Ladder # 27, Bronx, NY for over 20 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Anna Bernstein Spillane, and his wife Elizabeth Anne (nee Lynch) Spillane in 2014.
He is survived by his devoted daughter Lisa Spillane Eldridge and husband David Eldridge of Brielle, his 3 cherished grandchildren Sarah, Dylann, and Evan Eldridge, and his sister Jane Courtney and husband Bill of Los Angeles, Cal.
Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ 07719. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Peter’s Church, 406 Forman Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742. Please go directly to the Church on Saturday. There will not be a procession from the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the FDNY Foundation, 9 MetroTech Center, Room 5E-9, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
