Obituary for Anthony S "Tony" Catalano

Anthony “Tony” Catalano, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22nd. Tony was born in Neptune and grew up in Belmar. Tony resided with his wife Charlene in Brielle where together they raised a beautiful family of three children.
Tony graduated from St. Rose High School (Belmar, NJ ) and St. Francis College (Loretto, PA) where he was appointed to “ Who’s Who among Colleges and Universities”. In addition, he attended American University Law School in Washington DC. Tony was the proprietor and co-owner of Catalano’s Men’s Wear in Belmar and Asbury Park. He was a Certified Financial Planner with Meeker Sharkey and Provident Mutual Insurance Company prior to his early retirement.
Tony was devoted to his family and loved the Jersey Shore. He was an avid saltwater fisherman spending many Sundays offshore with his fishing buddies. Tony enjoyed his regular summer camping trip to the Adirondacks and his winter excursions to the Caribbean.
Mr. Catalano is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlene and his son Michael Catalano of Washington DC, daughter Amy Marmora of Ocean Township, and son Matthew Catalano of Brielle. He was also the proud grandfather of Sean and Christopher Marmora, and Alexis, Gianna, and John Catalano. Tony also leaves his two sisters, Jeanne Deschenes and Susan Cohen and many nieces and nephews. Anthony is predeceased by his parents Salvatore & Adele Catalano.
Visiting will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, 10 AM at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Committal will be private.
