Doris Elizabeth DeFrancisco Taylor, 89, of Toms River, N.J., died peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Rose Garden Nursing and Rehab , Toms River, N.J.
Born on Staten Island, N.Y., Doris resided there until 1980 when she moved to Covington, Louisiana. In 1999, she and her late husband relocated to Toms River, N.J. Doris graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing, Long Island, N.Y. and was a Registered Nurse in various hospitals on Staten Island. She and her husband also owned and operated Econo-Car rental on Staten Island for 16 years. She was a communicant of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Toms River, N.J., was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver and enjoyed spending time with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her wonderful husband of 52 years, Thomas William Taylor, Sr., who died in 2003. Doris was also predeceased by her parents, Mary and Roland DeFrancisco, her brother John DeFrancisco and her sister Rita DuVal.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Taylor Clark and Daniel Clark, of Howell, N.J., her son and daughter-in-law Thomas William Taylor, Jr. and Linda Taylor of North Attleboro, MA. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Jeanne C. Liu, Rebecca Clark, James Taylor Clark, Jessica C. Hansen, Margaret Taylor Steele, Susan Taylor Emery, Thomas William Taylor, III, and Patrick Taylor. She also leaves her great grandchildren Kieran Liu, Ronan Liu, McKenna Liu, Taylor Clark, Shea Clark, Alexa Emery, Brooklyn Emery, Hugo Emery, Klara Steele, Joanna Steele, Harper Hansen, Samantha Hansen and Thomas William Taylor IV.
Visiting will be Sunday3-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:15 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River, N.J. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.
