Obituary for Fernando "Freddie" Paiva Jr.

Fernando Paiva, Jr., 58, of Wall, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at home.
Fernando, known as Freddie to many, was born in Portugal, and grew up in Kearny. He also lived in Old Bridge, before moving to the Shore area ten years ago. He attended Kean University, where he was a member of Nu Sigma Phi, as well as President of the Fraternity-Sorority Council. He worked in the appliance sales business for many years, but his real calling was as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, and he helped countless people over the years. He enjoyed soccer and was an accomplished chef.
Fernando is survived by his sons, Fernando III and Jonathan Paiva, of Parlin. He is also survived by his brother Mark Paiva, of Point Pleasant, his niece Madison, and his former wife, Regina Paiva, of Parlin.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Friday, July 7, 2017, from 5-9 PM. Cremation will take place privately.
