Obituary for Eileen Mary Johnson (Sullivan)

Eileen Mary Johnson (nee Sullivan), 83, passed away peacefully on Holy Thursday, March 24, 2016, at her home in Greenbriar Woodlands, Toms River.
Mrs. Johnson was a retired Registered Nurse. She was employed as a Nurse at Misericordia Hospital in the Bronx, New York, Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey, Florence Rest Home in Florence, Massachusetts, and as the Director of Nursing at Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Chatham, New Jersey.
Mrs. Johnson was also an accomplished professional artist. As the owner of Fairway Creative Arts, she sold her work at many craft fairs in Massachusetts and New Jersey over the years. Her most popular items at these shows were the hand-painted Santas that she would sell in anticipation of the Christmas season, most notably her depictions of the traditional Polish Santa.
Mrs. Johnson earned her Registered Nurse Degree at Misericordia School of Nursing in New York City. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Mary’s of The Lake RC Church in Lakewood, New Jersey, and at Annunciation RC Church in Florence, Massachusetts.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Johnson lived in New Providence and Leeds, Massachusetts, before moving to Greenbriar Woodlands, Toms River, 18 years ago.
Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Peter M. Johnson; her son, Paul Johnson and his late wife, Susan Johnson, of New Providence; her daughters, Anne Ricculli and her husband, Dr. Nicholas Ricculli, of Morristown; and Elizabeth Long and her husband, Thomas Long, of Point Pleasant. She also leaves her beloved eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visiting will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family RC Church in Lakewood. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s of the Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Meridian Hospice, 80 Nautilus Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050; or to the Loren Donley Scholarship Fund, Point Pleasant Borough High School, Laura Herbert Drive, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742, c/o Rebecca Muraglia.
