Obituary for Aline Goodhart (O'Donnell)

Aline Goodhart (born O’Donnell), age 89, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on March 8, 2021 at Memorial Herman NE Hospital, Humble, Texas.

Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, Aline was a proud graduate of Holy Family Academy and Bayonne Hospital’s School of Nursing. At H.F.A., Aline was a member of the school’s basketball team and was an avid swimmer. While working as a summer lifeguard, she met the love of her life, Joe. Married for 62 years, he predeceased her in 2014 .

For many years Aline worked at the nursing profession that she loved at Bayonne Hospital and continued her career after moving to the Shore area in 1980. In 2015, Aline moved to Kingwood, Texas near her son and daughter-in-law. At the time of her passing, Aline was a resident of Arbor Terrace, Kingwood where she will be greatly missed by residents and staff.

Known for her infectious and unique laugh, Aline enjoyed watching professional sports. Her favorite athlete was Jordan Spieth (although she never played golf) who replaced the retired Derek Jeter. She was also an avid reader and held a strong belief in her Catholic faith. If she heard someone was in need of prayer, she would immediately pray the rosary for them.

Aline was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Mary (Orlovsky) O'Donnell, her brother James, her sisters, Una Sanzo and Marcella Dyer, and her son-in-law Thomas Matthews.

She is survived by her six children: Sharon ( Stephen) Ertz, Summit, NJ; Brian (Angela), Potomac Falls, VA; William (Sonya), Kingwood, TX; Celeste Goodhart, Bonita Springs, FL; Colleen Matthews, Florham Park, NJ; and Madonna (Robert) Harrold, Surprise, AZ. She was the loving grandmother to Jeffrey (Erin) Ertz and Lauren Ertz, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Christopher Goodhart, Jordan (Steven) Perucca, Dylan (Heather) Norcross, and Riley Goodhart. Aline was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Ethan, Wyatt, and Emmett Ertz, and Isabella and Jaxon Norcross.

She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Lee) O’Donnell and sister Antoinette (John) Love.
