Obituary for Andrew Salvatore Caprio

Andrew S. Caprio, age 87, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, Andrew was raised in Harrison, NJ, before moving to Kearny, where he resided for many years before settling in Point Pleasant in 1999. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1951 and then went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years. Andrew was also the Owner of Drew Advertising Specialties. He was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Cecilia’s Knights of Columbus 6928 in Kearny.

Andrew was pre-deceased by his parents Anna and Ralph Caprio.

Survived by the love of his life of 65 years, Catherine Caprio (Watters); his children, Cathy Berko (Harry), Andrew Caprio (Dawn), Marybeth Zielinski (James), Thomas Caprio (Lisa), Annmarie Tarleton (Albert), Judy Ferriero, Joan Rose (Robert); 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Andrew loved to spend time with his family, playing cards, crabbing, fishing, camping in New Hampshire and enjoying time at the Jersey shore. After retirement, Andrew and his wife enjoyed yearly trips to Florida. He led a remarkable life – he was kind, patient and will be missed by many.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 2 PM – 5 PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Dominic’s RC Church, Brick. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Andrew’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project. To send condolences, please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
