Obituary for Ann McCallum (Halleron)

Ann McCallum, 79, of Brick passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Ms. McCallum was a labor relations assistant at St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City before retiring 5 years ago. She also worked the switchboard and patient information at St. Michael’s Hospital in Newark earlier in her career. Even after her retirement she volunteered her time at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.

A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed bowling, Bingo, Irish music and the sweet stylings of Engelbert Humperdinck. She also enjoyed the recent success of her favorite baseball team, The Boston Red Sox.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland United Kingdom, she came to the United States of America in 1969 and settled in Kearny. She lived in Oakland, CA before moving back to New Jersey into Brick 5 years ago.

Surviving are her daughters, Alison Ann Ballantyne and her husband, John of Allamuchy and Tracey McCrystal and her husband, Bill Curtiss of Brick; her twin brother, Peter Halleron of Lester, England; sister Kate Rowan and her husband, Cameron of Western Australia; and 4 grandchildren, Justin Joyce Ballantyne and his wife, Stephanie DeGrazio, Casey Rose McCrystal, Douglas James McCrystal and Ian Thomas Ballantyne.

Visiting will be on Monday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted 7:30pm on Monday in the funeral home. Final interment will be private.
